| If you get up every time you fall and keep moving forward, you will eventually reach your goal. I pray that God will help me not to give up and to learn from past mistakes. I also pray earnestly every day that God will see the needs of the Cambodian people and he will work through me to help those most in need.
Our biggest customer has accepted to stock a larger range of our products in their stores. Praise God! Last week I returned from a 3 week trip to Perth, Western Australia where I did presentations in churches and visited a food company which is interested in importing our products into Australia. After one visit to a church in Perth they became inspired to raise funds to build a church in Cambodia (pray that this works out).
The Healthland Board has given me the responsibility to raise the funds required to turn our industry plan into reality. Not a most enjoyable job but one I'm happy to do because now I don't have the weight of responsibility of looking after the food industry. Please help to make my job easier! Your gift will bring benefits to people who really need it.
Youth Hostel?
Some people are wondering when we are going to do the youth hostel. I tried to raise the funds for the hostel but burned myself out trying to raise money for that and the food industry at the same time. So we have decided to get the industry expansion finished off properly first and then after that we can focus on the hostel. In time it will happen!
Reaping the Rewards of Hard Work
Below is the funding proposal that Sanitarium Health Food Co. helped us to put together with the business plan that I sent out a month ago. Many of you have helped us to build new equipment and a new mini-factory, train new staff and develop new products. Now we have the opportunity to reap the benefits of this hard work. According to our plan, the funding proposal will help Healthland to grow annual sales from US$67,000 to US$235,000. For me, this is very exciting because when sales go up so do the benefits for so many people, including increased employment. This funding proposal will help to increase employment from 30 to more than 80 employees!
The money we have put into Healthland over the last few years has transformed our industry:
Because of this new development, we can now focus our attention on growth and sales. In the last 12 months our sales have tripled and your funds have helped us to do this. There is still lots of capacity for more growth. If you look at the chart below, all of the funds are related to sales and growth except the last four items which are related to improving our management of finances. Cash flow is for growth. Increased sales means increased volume of raw materials and finished product and therefore we need more warehouse space. Motorbikes, mobile shops, developing a sales team, in-store promotions, mobile phones, internet for sales staff are all items necessary for us to grow.
If you would like to support Healthland financially, refer to the table below, choose an item and decide how many units you would like to fund.
We have a hard working team at Healthland. I will give them my full support!
According to the sales targets on our business plan we are suppost to sell about $5605.00 worth in July. July is not quite finished but between June 16 and July 15 we sold about $5550.00 so we are on target. We will not continue to reach our sales goals however if we cannot raise the funds for the funding proposal soon.
August - A Trip to the US
ASAP (Adventist Southeast Asia Projects http://www.asapministries.org/) is sponsoring me to attend the ASI (Adventist - Laymen's Services & Industries http://www.asiministries.org/) convention in America in August and I will spend an extra month over there promoting this funding proposal. Pray that people will open their hearts and give generously.
New Promotional Video
A friend of mine who is a film producer came to Healthland and got footage to make a 7 minute promotional video for Healthland. If you would like a copy to help promote Healthland, please let me know.
An Australian Food Company Interested in Healthland's Products
I have just return from a three week visit to Perth in Western Australia. Anchor Foods http://www.spencers.com.au/ based in Perth, is interested in importing Healthland's products into Australia under an eco-village concept in which some of the profits will return to the villages where the original produce came from.
Max Hulls, an employee in the company is willing to volunteer some time with us to help us to achieve this goal. This funding proposal will help us to be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
Kamrang (my wife) and I helped John Brereton's literature evangelist team to vaccinate about 175 people from the rubbish dump village last Sabbath afternoon (John was my boss when I was a literature evangelist). Kamrang organised a team of doctors and nurses and we bought the vaccines, bandages, etc during the week and then got up early on Sabbath morning and loaded the syringes. At 2pm in the afternoon we drove to a church at Chamroun Phal near the rubbish dump. People were gathered there to receive a tetanus shot and a food parcel. A small thing but it can help to save lives - people in the rubbish dump often die from simple cuts.
It feels good to help people in this way, but it is only a band-aid. Pray that we can make Healthland grow so that we can give more jobs to people like these and make a real lasting difference in their lives.
